Through the Years – Album Cover

Thought of sharing my ‘Through the Years” album making process with you all

ALBUM COVER

Chipboard

Cover – Black 300 GSM cardstock

Arrange chipboard pieces and align the top and bottom of all and make sure to leave around ¼” between chipboard pieces.

Attach all the pieces to each other using book binding tape on both sides. This will add to the strength of the album cover.

Now place chipboard base to the elongated black sheet. Attach with double sided scor tape. Use a generous amount of tape as the cover has to hold the whole weight of the album and embellishments. Now cut the excess of black sheet just leaving at least ¾” border all around the chipboard.

Add double sided scor tape to the left out border and score at the edges of the chipboard as it will help in folding over the borders. Do it on longer sides first.
Fold borders on all 4 sides. Like we cover notebooks.

Join 2 more sheets of heavy black cardstock and cut it to just a bit smaller than the size of the inner side of the album cover. This will give clean finish to both sides of the album cover.

Burnish the complete album using a bone folder. Just make sure all the adhesive is properly stick to the cover.
Score all the joint lines and open close all the joint hinges a couple of times. This will give album a shape to stay. In case your album is not staying on fold lines, do not worry!! It is because the paper is new n heavy in weight and the fibres are rigid. It will stay in place by the end of project stage, as the more we open and close, folds will start staying in.

So, here we finish with the album cover. In next blog I will be adding hinges, pages and pockets to it
